MANUFACTURE OF CLOVE THRESHING MACHINES FOR CLOVE FARMERS IN SUGIHAN HAMLET, DUREN VILLAGE, SAWAHAN SUBDISTRICT, NGANJUK REGENCY, EAST JAVA

Manual post-harvest handling of clove flowers remains a challenge for farmers because it requires a considerable amount of time and energy and produces inconsistent results. This is still practiced by clove farmers in Sugihan Hamlet, Duren Village, Sawahan Subdistrict, Nganjuk Regency, East Java. In an effort to overcome this problem, a clove threshing machine with a capacity of 12 kg per hour was developed, equipped with a system to separate the flowers from the stems of the clove harvest. The threshing mechanism uses synthetic rubber blades that rotate horizontally to maintain the quality of the flowers. The separation process is based on the principle of centrifugal force and the difference in density between the flowers and stems. The processing time for this machine is approximately 4 to 5 hours, based on machining time calculations. Test results show that the machine is able to work effectively with a separation success rate of over 90%. This machine is expected to increase farmer work efficiency and accelerate the post-harvest process of cloves in a more practical and economical manner.
